What tips do you have for a new writer?

First of all,

Read!

Read anything and everything that you can. It’ll make you a better reader, which will make you a better writer.

Second,

Try writing every day. It could be ten pages. It could be ten words. Just keep that hand (or hands if we are typying) moving. Don’t worry about whether it is good or not. You can always edit. And you have to get through a lot of bad writing to come up with anything good.

And third,

Don’t be afraid to share your work. And trust your critics. If someone is saying something about a particular part, revisit it. Even if you decide not to change anything, it’s always good to imagine the scene from a reader’s perspective.

What kind of books do you read?

I primarily read within the YA and NA genres, but I do also read some contemporary mystery and romance from time to time. I also have a love for Agatha Christie novels. And Then There were None is my favorite. My favorite YA authors are Rainbow Rowell and John Green. I’m also a huge Harry Potter fan.
